Your Role
We are seeking a Secondary School Library Assistant (100%) to support the daily operations of our Secondary School Library.
Working closely with the Secondary Librarian, you will play an important role in ensuring that the library remains a welcoming, well-organised and inspiring learning space for students and staff. The library is a central hub of independent study, collaboration and inquiry, and this role is key to its smooth and effective functioning.
This position is offered under a Teaching Assistant (TA) contract.
What you will do
- Maintain a welcoming, calm and well-organised library environment conducive to focused learning.
- Support students in the effective and responsible use of library resources and facilities.
- Assist with the daily operation of the library, including circulation, shelving, and organisation of materials.
- Support the cataloguing, processing and maintenance of print and digital library collections.
- Contribute to the creation of library displays, signage and exhibitions that promote reading and learning.
- Support the selection, ordering, tracking, and inventorying of library resources in collaboration with the Secondary Librarians.
- Coordinate library schedules and bookings with teaching staff.
- Actively participate in staff and department meetings.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative, respectful and inclusive school climate.
What makes you our ideal Candidate
- Experience working in a school library or a library-related role, ideally with middle or high-school-aged students.
- Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal System and Follett Destiny (or similar library software) is an asset.
- Excellent English communication skills, and other languages as an asset.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with colleagues.
- Confident using technology and willing to learn new systems and tools.
- A positive, approachable communicator with a sense of humour.
- Empathetic and supportive when working with students, teachers and parents.
- Interest in international education and the International Baccalaureate is an advantage.
- Valid Swiss work permit or eligibility to work in Switzerland.
