The Faculty of Law is one of the oldest of the seven faculties at the University of Basel. It covers teaching, research, and services in the field of law. It has around 250 staff members and over 1,200 students.
The Center for Life Sciences Law (ZLSR) is offering a 20% position as a research assistant with Professor Alfred Früh within the framework of the NFP 84 project "Recalibrating the Incentive Systems for NBT".
Your Tasks
The research project examines whether and how patent and plant variety protection law should be adapted in view of technological developments in plant breeding (especially CRISPR/Cas). As a research assistant, you will support the project team with research, publications, and organizational aspects.Your Profile
- A bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Law is required
- Enjoyment of technology law
- Interest in scientific topics

- Start date: 1 March 2026 or by arrangement
- The position is limited to one year (extendable)
