Your tasks:
We offer you a responsible position with a high degree of freedom in research and teaching. You will have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and laboratories at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW and work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment with strong regional, national, and international partners. You will have the opportunity to actively shape the "Digital Health" area and further develop your activities within the framework of the university's strategic development in a highly dynamic, complex environment.
Your tasks include a combination of applied research & development and teaching. Embedded in the Institute of Medical Engineering and Medical Informatics, you will build up a research group, lead it, and ensure its funding. In doing so, you will undertake the following activities:
- Establishing, leading, and further developing a research group in the field of image-based modeling and simulation (in-silico modeling and simulation of medical processes and procedures in diagnosis and therapy or the development of anatomy, physiology, or pathology models based on image data for practical applications).
- Acquisition and implementation of application-oriented research and development projects with partners from clinics, industry, and research. You develop new ideas and solutions, identify innovation potentials, establish consortia, and secure funding.
- Responsibility for the financial and timely execution of the projects you lead as well as publication of the obtained results.
- Development of innovative teaching content and courses in our German-language bachelor's and English-language master's programs, especially in the field of medical information technology (e.g., imaging methods, image processing, system theory, application of dynamic models in medicine).
- Supervision of theses and student projects.
- Interdisciplinary networking within FHNW as well as with national and international partner institutions.
- Supporting the university in the development and optimization of existing study programs as well as in student recruitment.
Your profile:
As an innovative and committed individual with strong communication skills and a completed university degree with a doctorate (medical informatics, IT engineering with medical knowledge, or medicine with advanced IT skills), you bring the following additional qualifications and competencies:
- Several years of professional experience in industry or hospital
- Understanding of medical processes and clinical decision-making
- Proven competence in acquiring and managing (international) projects
- Leadership experience in managing working groups
- Extensive network in science and business, especially in Switzerland and Europe
- Demonstrated high-quality publication record
- Experience in teaching
- Higher education didactic qualification or willingness to acquire it within the first years
- Very good German and English skills
