The Rheumatology Department, attached to the Department of Internal Medicine and Specialties, focuses its activity within the HFR Fribourg – Fribourg site, while also providing consultations at two peripheral sites (Riaz and Tavel). Accredited by the ISFM as a Category A training institution, it represents an important place in rheumatology training in Switzerland.

In anticipation of the retirement of the current post holder, the Medical Directorate of the Fribourg hospital is looking for a

Head Physician

Your mission:

• Ensure the management and development of the Rheumatology Department
• Collaborate with the outpatient and inpatient services of the HFR providing rheumatology patients and with the Fribourg outpatient network
• Supervise and participate in the training of senior physicians, assistant physicians in training including those rotating within the Department, and physician candidates
• Participate in the teaching of medical students (Bachelor and Master) at the University of Fribourg and other teaching missions

Your profile:

• Hold an ISFM specialist title in rheumatology (or equivalent, with Mebeko recognition)
• Have extensive clinical experience covering all aspects of rheumatology, including in-depth knowledge of immunology and inflammatory diseases
• Hold a university title (at least Privat-docent) or be on track to obtain it quickly
• Have research experience and management of research funds
• Have leadership, management, and operational experience as a senior physician in a university or significant regional hospital
• Have teaching experience at pre- and postgraduate levels
• Excellent communication, integration, and collaboration skills with an interprofessional team, as well as with other HFR professionals or practicing physicians
• Communicative and committed personality
• Fluency in French or German with good knowledge of the other language (minimum level B2)

Responsibilities

• You ensure the leadership and further development of the Rheumatology Department.
• You collaborate with the outpatient and inpatient departments of the HFR as well as with the outpatient Fribourg network that refers patients to the Rheumatology Department.
• You supervise senior physicians, assistant physicians in training (including those rotating within the department) as well as junior assistants and participate in their training.
• You contribute to the teaching of medical students (at Bachelor and Master levels) at the University of Fribourg

Profile

• SIWF specialist title in Rheumatology (or equivalent degree with MEBEKO recognition)

Comprehensive clinical experience covering all areas of rheumatology, including extensive knowledge in immunology and inflammatory diseases

• Academic title (at least Privatdozent) or in the process of obtaining it promptly
• Experience in research and management of research funds
• Leadership and management experience in a senior medical position at a university hospital or a significant regional hospital
• Teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate education
• Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and ability to integrate into an interprofessional team and collaborate with other HFR professionals and practicing physicians
• Communicative and committed personality
• German or French with excellent knowledge of the other language (min. level B2)
