Group Leader „Snow Physics“ 80–100% (m/f/d)
The research unit «Snow and Atmosphere» investigates snow and its interactions with the hydro- and atmosphere on various scales, aiming to improve our understanding of the role of snow in the climate system. We are looking for a
The group «Snow Physics», with its long tradition in world-leading research on the physical properties of snow and ice, is seeking a new leader. Your tasks include high-level research and scientific leadership, acquisition of third-party funding, as well as coordination of the group's projects and activities. In addition, you are responsible for the cold laboratories of the SLF and the instruments contained therein.
You have an excellent track record in snow research, especially in snow physics, with proven success in acquiring third-party funding and experience in leading national or international research projects. Besides your enthusiasm for linking theoretical concepts and modeling with field and laboratory measurements of snow and firn, you are an innovative personality with a broad international network and a committed and supportive leadership style. You have a clear vision of how to further develop the field of snow physics and promote its practical application in various relevant areas.
