The Brain and Mental Health Consultation is the result of close collaboration between the psychiatry and clinical neuroscience departments of the HUG, which was established at the Geneva Campus Biotech (CBT) on
November 1, 2024.
Its goal is to offer complementary care to that provided at HUG for neurological patients (patients suffering from traumatic brain injury) and psychiatric patients (psychosis spectrum disorders), in order to better define diagnosis and develop new treatment strategies.
Patients have access to specialized clinical follow-ups thanks to a dedicated and multidisciplinary team, including neuropsychologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, without having to return to a hospital setting. Complete end-to-end clinical care pathways (from initial care to return home or to adapted facilities) are established by the respective neurology, psychiatry, and neurosurgery teams of HUG in collaboration with the NeuroCentre, around various neuronal pathologies.
The brain and mental health consultation is part of the patient care pathway development and aims to create an effective synergy between HUG clinical expertise and the Campus Biotech research platform, to inspire treatments with new innovative tools derived from research.
Indeed, at Campus Biotech, several teams are available to offer participation in translational research projects to advance the understanding of cognitive and motivational disorders and pave the way for new adapted treatment strategies. An additional asset is the creation of clinical registries to better document and understand targeted pathologies as well as applied treatments, with standardized and anonymized quality data.
