Head of Food Inspection Office

The Cantonal Laboratory is responsible for food control, drinking, bathing and shower water control as well as chemical control. Together with the food businesses, we ensure high hygiene standards and safe Thurgau food and consumer goods. As a supervisory authority, we conduct inspections in businesses and examine samples in our accredited laboratory.

Due to the retirement of the previous position holder, we are looking for a from July 1, 2026 or by arrangement a

• Professional, organizational, administrative as well as personnel management and further development of the Food Inspection Office with two food inspectors and four food controllers
• Planning and organization of controls in food and consumer goods businesses according to food legislation
• Control and assessment of businesses and samples as well as ordering the necessary administrative measures and administrative procedures
• Assessment of processes according to food law and scientific-technical aspects
• Sample collection for official examinations
• Assessment of administrative and food law matters
• Controls on behalf of export companies according to third country requirements

• University or university of applied sciences degree as a food scientist, natural scientist or veterinarian
• Practical professional experience as a food inspector, diploma for official food control
• Experience in leading employees
• Convincing appearance, sociable, communicative and resilient personality
• Structured thinking and working style, good powers of observation
• Legal flair, strong interest in food law issues and experience with administrative procedures
• Experience in the food industry, quality assurance and audits
• Very good oral and written expression
