To complete our team of the Emergency and Urgent Care Medicine service at the Lugano Regional Hospital, we are looking for
Head Physician of the Emergency Department (100%)
The emergency service of the Lugano Regional Hospital represents the cantonal hub center for the management of time-dependent pathologies, including stroke, polytrauma, ischemic heart disease, as well as neurosurgery, vascular surgery, and cardiac surgery.
The selected candidates will become part of an interdisciplinary team, performing clinical activities, training, and research, as well as taking on small organizational tasks.
The head physicians will also have a key role as tutors for doctors in training.
The work environment is distinguished by collegiality, sharing of skills, continuous training, and professional stimuli.
Training opportunities include weekly courses, simulations, discussion of complex clinical cases, internal seminars, and the possibility to participate in certified courses such as ACLS, ATLS, POCUS, PALS, AHLS, and others. It is also possible to complete training to obtain the SMUSS emergency physician title, if not already held.
Additional strengths include the possibility to conduct clinical research and collaborate in tutoring medical students from the University of Italian Switzerland.
Essential requirements:
- degree/diploma in medicine and specialization in internal medicine and/or surgery or equivalent title and related registration with MedReg before starting work. For doctors with foreign titles, recognition by the Federal Commission for Medical Professions MEBEKO and related registration with MedReg before starting work is mandatory;
- proven knowledge of the Italian language (required level at least B2) with related registration with MedReg before starting work;
- relational, communication skills and team work attitude with interest in emergency medicine.
- SMUSS emergency medical certificate;
- certificates of competence and/or clinical experience in emergency medicine in Swiss or foreign institutions;
- knowledge of other national languages and/or English;
- excellent command of main IT tools.
