What you will do here
- Develop and conduct teaching in the fields of animal breeding, livestock genetics, genomics, and animal genetic resources at the bachelor level in linguistically mixed classes (German/French)
- Organize and supervise student work at bachelor and master levels
- Build your own applied research activities in the areas of animal breeding, genetics, genomics, and animal genetic resources through third-party funding acquisition (defining the focus areas within the topic)
- Develop your own service and continuing education offerings
- Position and make HAFL visible in the industry through presentations and publications and maintain a strong network
What you ideally bring
- Master's degree (FH or ETH/University) in agronomy or veterinary medicine (PhD desired)
- Several years of professional experience in animal breeding/livestock genetics with good knowledge of the industry and agricultural practice
- Solid knowledge in breeding value estimation (conventional and genomic) and molecular genetic methods, as well as experience in bioinformatics data analysis (SNP data, sequence data)
- Ideally qualification or experience in university teaching and related tasks
- High degree of initiative, responsibility, teamwork skills, and willingness to work interdisciplinarily and lead a small team
- Native German or French speaker with good knowledge of the other language
