The Bern Institute of Sports Science is primarily socially and
behaviorally oriented and is characterized by a
problem-oriented approach in research and teaching (see
https://www.ispw.unibe.ch/strategiedokument). Applicants are expected to represent the area of research methods in
sports science in teaching and research.
Tasks
- Courses on quantitative (and qualitative) research methods in sports science
- Participation in sports psychology teaching
- Research methodological advice and research methodological services, especially in the area of study design, data collection and processing, as well as statistics
- Collaboration in research projects on sports science topics, especially sports psychology
- (Co-)supervision of BSc and MSc theses
- Participation in the organization, implementation, and evaluation of the aptitude test for admission to the sports science program at the University of Bern
- Participation in university self-administration
Requirements
- Completed university degree, preferably in sports science with a focus on research methods and sports psychology
- For assistant professorship with tenure track, a PhD is a minimum requirement; for lectureship, habilitation is desired
- Higher education didactic suitability and teaching experience in quantitative research methods of a socially and behaviorally oriented sports science
- Excellent expertise (including research and publication activity) in quantitative research methods of a socially and behaviorally oriented sports science
- Expertise and teaching experience in qualitative research methods desired
- Expertise in complex data collection and data analysis methods (e.g., machine learning) desired
- Experience in academic self-administration desired
