The Department of Biomedicine (DBM) integrates the fundamental and translational research programs of the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel and the University Hospital of Basel (USB). Within the DBM, the Tissue Engineering Cluster focuses on developing and translating innovative, cell-based therapies for cartilage repair in orthopedic, spinal, and reconstructive surgery. As part of this effort, the Intervertebral Disc Research Unit (Dr. Olga Krupkova) at USB, is seeking a motivated and skilled laboratory assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge translational research on cell-based therapies aimed at alleviating low back pain.
Your position
The tasks include an active participation in the design and execution of- Manufacturing of cell-based medicinal products in a GMP facility (clean room)
- Writing of manufacturing protocols and establishing GMP-compliant documentation
- Validation of new procedures and qualification of new equipment for GMP use
- Management of disposable material for production in clean room
- Development of assays (viability, potency, identity, purity) for cell-based medicinal products
Your profile
The successful candidate should have- Strong motivation and interest to work in translational research
- Ability to work independently and to take responsibilities within a team
- Consolidated experience in cell culture and standard analytical methods (histology, biochemical assays)
- Experience in working in a GMP environment preferred
- Good command in English, spoken and written (in addition, German an asset)
- High reliability, flexibility and problem-solving attitude
