The neurology department of the Fribourg hospital (HFR) consists of eight FMH specialist doctors in neurology, supported by 1 training assistant and 1 rotating assistant from the internal medicine clinic. The department covers the main areas of neurology, particularly with an accredited stroke unit, a consulting activity in the various departments of the HFR as well as in outpatient care (general neurology, neurovascular consultations, neuroimmunology, neuromuscular, epilepsy, movement disorders, and a Memory Clinic in collaboration with the neuropsychology unit attached to the neurology department). Similarly, a complete neurophysiological platform (EEG, EMG, cerebrovascular and neuromuscular sonography) and a day hospital for diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient care are available. The team is based at the cantonal hospital in Fribourg but is available for the entire HFR network with approximately 6000 outpatient consultations and more than 2500 additional examinations per year. There is close collaboration with various specialties of internal medicine including an emergency service and intensive care. We also collaborate with neurosurgery and neurorehabilitation of the HFR, with the university neurology clinics of Bern and Lausanne, and with the University of Fribourg.

The clinic deals with all areas of neurology, particularly having a certified stroke unit as well as a lively consulting activity for the various departments of the HFR and outpatient consultations (general neurology, neurovascular, neuroimmunological, neuromuscular, and epileptological consultations, movement disorder consultations, and a Memory Clinic in collaboration with the department of neuropsychology attached to neurology). In addition, a complete neurophysiological infrastructure (EEG, EMG, cerebrovascular and neuromuscular sonography) and a day clinic for outpatient diagnostics and therapy are available. The main location is the HFR Fribourg - Cantonal Hospital, but the team is available to the entire HFR network and conducts around 6000 outpatient consultations and over 2500 additional examinations annually. Neurology works closely with various specialties of internal medicine and the emergency and intensive care units.
