Head of Finance, Member of the Executive Board 80 - 100%The Cantonal Social Office with over 280 employees takes on diverse, controlling and operational tasks mainly in social assistance, social insurances, social services and in the asylum sector at the interface between the federal government, other cantons, cities, municipalities and various private organizations. It also runs its own facility, tilia, based in Rheinau, which has over 124 residential and employment places, divided into 12 residential groups and five studio areas.
For the Finance, Controlling and Infrastructure department, we are looking for a leadership personality as Head of Finance, Member of the Executive Board 80 – 100% starting January 1, 2026 or by arrangement.
Your main tasks
- You take over the personnel, professional and organizational management of the department with around 12 employees in the areas of finance/controlling, real estate, digital development & processes and drive its strategic further development.
- You are responsible for the financial management of the office, which allocates around 1.7 billion Swiss francs in contributions with different financing mechanisms.
- You develop the management/controlling instruments further and ensure an effective risk/control system.
- You write statements, reports, analyses as well as decision-making bases for the office management.
- As a member of the executive board, you lead and further develop the Cantonal Social Office, share responsibility for the overall result, actively shape the strategic direction and implement it operationally.
- You ensure the correct financial and procurement-compliant handling of acquisitions.
- You promote and coach your team, develop potentials and create a trusting working environment.
- You take over the leadership and participation in projects and represent the Cantonal Social Office competently in projects/committees at the cantonal and federal level.
- You take overall responsibility for a versatile real estate portfolio with over 40 properties including rentals in the asylum sector.
Your skills and talents
- You have a completed degree in business administration (MAS) with a focus on accounting/controlling or a comparable qualification.
- You have several years of leadership and professional experience in a comparable, public or complex environment.
- You have proven knowledge in finance and real estate, digitalization and project management.
- You work strategically, networked and solution-oriented – with a clear eye for innovation and feasibility. You communicate confidently and convincingly at all levels and have experience dealing with various stakeholders.
- You are an initiative-taking, resilient person with a proven hands-on mentality and political sensitivity who likes to tackle and solve challenges.
- You preferably have experience with accounting in public administration (HRM2) and have good knowledge of SAP.
