The Competence Center for Public Management at the University of Bern is looking for a postdoctoral researcher starting January 1, 2026, or by agreement.
The position is limited to 48 months.
Within the research program "Strategy Work and Change in Pluralistic, Especially Public Organizations," the Public Management and Organization research team at the Competence Center for Public Management (KPM) at the University of Bern is offering the following position limited to 48 months starting January 1, 2026.
Tasks- You actively participate in the research program and are responsible for your independent project within it.
- You engage in joint publication projects.
- You develop competitive research proposals that, if approved, may allow you to extend your employment.
- You supervise doctoral and master's students in their qualification work.
- Additionally, you are responsible for courses in our Master Public Management and Policy and support the academic activities of the professorship.
Requirements
- You hold a doctorate in Public Management, Administrative Sciences, Business Administration, Organizational Sociology, or another field relevant to the public sector.
- You have relevant knowledge of sociological organizational theories and sufficient experience with qualitative-interpretative research methods.
- Furthermore, you have already participated in international conferences during your doctorate and ideally have published in international journals.
- Excellent written and oral expression in German and English is therefore required.
- Knowledge of the Swiss politico-administrative system is an advantage.
