Psychology Internship Research and Development 80 - 100%
You are studying psychology at the bachelor or master level, have diverse interests, are open to new topics, and curious about how research & development works in the correctional system? Then an internship with us might be the perfect next step in your career!
In Research & Development (R&D), we pursue questions from forensic psychology, organizational psychology, social sciences, and criminal and measures law in interdisciplinary teams. All our research and development projects are highly application-oriented and have immediate practical relevance. Current topics include, for example, the prison climate in the correctional institutions of the canton of Zurich, the effectiveness of recidivism-preventive interventions in criminal and measures enforcement, or the psychological stress of incarcerated persons and their healthcare.
R&D is embedded in Justice Enforcement and Reintegration (JuWe) and part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the canton of Zurich. More information about us and our work can be found here.
From March 1, 2026 (or by arrangement), we are looking for an intern for 6 months.
This is your field of activity
- You will work on our application-oriented research and development projects
- You will support systematic literature searches on topics currently occupying us
- You will assist in study planning, data collection, and data analysis
- You will help prepare internal reports and presentations
- Occasionally co-organizing an internal event or a function? That is also possible with us
What you bring with you
- You are studying psychology at the master’s level (or will soon complete your bachelor’s degree)
- You enjoy working scientifically and have initial experience in statistical data analysis and systematic literature research
- You are interested in topics related to the correctional system with connections to psychology, psychiatry, and criminology and enjoy interdisciplinary work
- You are enthusiastic and eager to learn something new every day. You love it when things run smoothly and want to be flexibly deployed. You are proactive and can organize yourself and your workday well
- You have native-level German skills both spoken and written and good English skills
What makes this position special
- You want to learn new things and develop yourself? Perfect. We offer insight into diverse, application-oriented research projects. You will learn key aspects of the correctional system in Switzerland and gain insight into the professional fields of science and clinical work in the forensic context
- You like variety? Wonderful. Because you will take on diverse tasks with us
- You want to exchange ideas with peers? Usually, several interns work with us
- You want to learn more about the correctional system and our work? We have the right thing for you: JuWe runs an internal academy with a large training offer that you can participate in
- You appreciate working in an interdisciplinary team? As part of our team, you have the chance to expand your network and make valuable connections. We offer a versatile and innovative working environment in Zurich Altstetten
By now it is clear: an internship in Research & Development has a lot to offer. And of course, we pay a fair salary.
Do you still have questions? Then contact Rahel Bader at rahel.bader@ji.zh.ch
Applying is very easy:
Send us your application via our online tool. We are committed to bias-free application processes and therefore do not require a cover letter or photo and you can also omit information about your marital status. Instead, you will complete an online assessment – we also like to keep the application process evidence-based.
Questions about the application process can be answered by the Recruitment & Assessment team at 043 257 43 19.
