About the job
Transport Engineer
- SCTR12
- The SCTR orders public transport services in the cantonal territory. It deals with both financial issues and short, medium, and long-term planning. For this, it coordinates with the Confederation, municipalities, neighboring cantons, and transport companies. It is also responsible for monitoring the direct railway line project.
At the heart of the daily operation of public transport, you manage the short and medium-term planning of the bus service. This mission relies on constant dialogue with cantonal services, municipalities, and transport companies to translate the territory's needs into a coherent offer. You also provide your expertise to the service for all questions related to railway planning. Moreover, you play a key role in the energy transition by ensuring the progressive decarbonization of the bus fleet, respecting the deadlines set by the legislative framework. This responsibility fully aligns with the canton’s commitment to more sustainable and forward-looking mobility. As the canton’s representative on the management committee of the Onde verte fare community, you defend cantonal interests and ensure the concrete implementation of fare facilities decided by the authorities. Your activity also leads you to collaborate beyond cantonal borders, within intercantonal and cross-border working groups dedicated to public transport services. In this capacity, you are the reference person for bus service planning, contributing daily to accessible public mobility serving the community.
You hold a degree as a transport engineer from a University of Applied Sciences or ETH, or an equivalent qualification. Your background has allowed you to develop a solid understanding of public transport issues. With over five years of experience in public transport planning, you operate comfortably in an environment where actors, processes, and constraints of the field are familiar to you. You know how to navigate between institutional expectations, operational realities, and multiple partnerships. You appreciate technical challenges and know how to approach them with a global vision, integrating financial, environmental, and societal dimensions. Finding balanced and sustainable solutions is part of your working style. Finally, you want to put your skills at the service of a close-knit team where collaboration and the pursuit of common goals give meaning to daily work.
