Position: Partner & Head of Tax Law
Location: Zurich
Workload: 100% full-time
Objective
The Partner & Head of Tax Law leads and develops the firm’s tax practice and advises national and international clients on strategic, transactional, and regulatory tax matters. The role is responsible for the growth of the practice, maintaining the highest quality of legal services, and positioning the firm as a market leader in corporate, fintech, private equity, and cross-border tax matters.
Responsibilities
Areas of Expertise
- Corporate taxation: direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and operational taxation.
- Individual taxation: tax and estate planning for high-net-worth clients.
- Regulatory taxation: FATCA, QI, CRS, DAC 6, and other international compliance requirements.
Tax Advisory Leadership
- Leading, expanding, and managing the tax practice, including the development of tax lawyers.
- Setting strategic goals and ensuring the practice meets its growth and profitability targets.
Client Advisory and Relationship Management:
- Expert tax advice in corporate, M&A, private equity, fintech, and cross-border transactions.
- Building and maintaining close relationships with high-net-worth clients and industry players.
- Representing clients before tax authorities and in negotiations with regulatory bodies.
Business Development and Market Positioning:
- Driving business development initiatives and exploring new market opportunities.
- Representing the firm at industry events, in publications, and in thought leadership activities.
- Collaborating with partners from various practice areas to deliver integrated client solutions.
Regulatory and Compliance Expertise:
- Ensuring compliance with Swiss and international tax laws and regulations.
- Advising clients on changing laws, financial innovations, and regulatory issues.
Operational Excellence:
- Overseeing the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and profitable tax services.
- Setting and monitoring performance metrics, budgets, and revenue targets for the tax area.
Requirements
Education:
- Swiss bar admission with top legal qualifications.
- Swiss certified tax expert ("certified tax expert with federal diploma")
- Excellent academic qualifications in law (Master’s or Doctorate degree).
- Additional specialization in corporate law, financial law, or tax law.
Professional Experience:
- At least 10 years of proven professional experience as a tax advisor, preferably in a partner role at a law firm, an accounting firm, or in a senior position in the tax department of a bank or asset management company.
Languages:
- Stylistically confident, appropriate English and German
- Additional languages (e.g., French, Italian) are an advantage.

- Result-oriented, proactive, and resilient
- Charismatic and confident, with the ability to represent the firm at conferences and industry forums

- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of lawyers
- Experience in internal knowledge sharing, thought leadership, and promoting best practices
