Employee Care and Security Service 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, as well as the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Bachtel Correctional Center (VZB) is one of the enforcement facilities of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in open enforcement of custodial and substitute custodial sentences. The VZB offers space for over 90 incarcerated persons.
To strengthen the care and security service, we are looking for a flexible personality to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited until 31.08.2026.
Your tasks
- Accompanying and caring for incarcerated persons to prevent detention damage
- Maintaining order and security for incarcerated persons, employees, and third parties
- Maintaining the health of incarcerated persons and accompanying them to external agencies
- Operating the security center and monitoring locking systems (inside and outside) as well as operating the telephone center with overview and reliability
- Receiving visitors and conducting gift, effects, and X-ray checks as well as trustworthy care of inmates and visitors, including recognizing and managing crisis situations
- Careful completion of administrative tasks to support smooth operations
- Interdisciplinary, cross-departmental collaboration with employees and third parties working for the correctional center
Your profile
- Completed education with a federal certificate of competence, (specialized) Matura, specialized middle school certificate, or equivalent qualification; ideally supplemented by several years of experience in a care-related function
- Professional handling of closeness and distance in contact with inmates; high social competence as well as pronounced assertiveness
- You are mentally resilient and flexible working hours (shift, night, weekend, and holiday duties) are compatible with your other commitments
- You can express yourself very well in written and spoken German and have knowledge of other languages. You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You are at least 25 years old and have a clean record (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
- Openness to perform cross-departmental assignments in other departments of the VZB in case of personnel shortages
