The Office for Nature and Environment (ANU) is a service office of the Department of Education, Culture and Environmental Protection and comprises five divisions: Nature and Landscape, Technical and Operational Environmental Protection, Ground and Settlement Water, Process Coordination, and Central Services. Our employees regularly exchange information with internal and external stakeholders as well as with federal and other cantonal specialist offices.
In the role of head, you report directly to the head of the department. You take on a responsible role in which you, together with a committed team, provide effective services for the benefit of natural resources, the population, and the economy. You actively participate, contribute your expertise, and find an environment that supports collaboration, professionalism, and further development.
We are looking for a Head of the Office for Nature and Environment starting January 1, 2027 or by agreement.
- Overall responsibility for the organizational, personnel, and financial management of the office
- Strategic implementation of environmental, water protection, nature, and heritage protection laws
- Professional advice to the government on key environmental issues
- Quality and development management of services
- Leadership and collaboration with division heads (approx. 50 employees)
- Representation of the ANU in expert committees, commissions, and inter-cantonal networks
- University degree in a scientific field with solid environmental expertise
- Experience in leadership, collaboration, and team development
- In-depth knowledge of environmental law as well as planning and approval procedures
- Analytical, systemic, and solution-oriented thinking and working approach
- High communication, networking, and stakeholder competence
- Sensitivity to economic, social, and political contexts
- Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
