Employee Lodge & Reception 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, as well as the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Center for Foreigners' Administrative Detention (ZAA) belongs to the enforcement institutions of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in the enforcement of measures according to the Foreigners and Integration Act. The ZAA offers space for around 130 admitted persons.
To strengthen the lodge & reception of the ZAA, we are looking for a flexible and team-oriented personality by agreement. The position is limited to about two years.
This is your field of activity
- You ensure safety for employees, inmates, and third parties and ensure an orderly day and night routine
- You are responsible for visitor processing and access and goods controls including X-ray
- You operate the communication and personal protection system, the external and internal surveillance, the locking system as well as the telephone switchboard and secure the staff in the inmate area using video, intercom, and radio systems
- You recognize crisis situations and emergencies, initiate measures, and work with internal and external partners such as the cantonal police, external security services, medical services, or fire brigade
- The completion of administrative tasks such as keeping journals or reports rounds off your area of responsibility
This is what you bring
- You have completed a vocational training EFZ; SKJV training as a correctional officer is a great advantage
- You are a team-oriented, empathetic, and precise personality with an independent and solution-oriented working style
- You express yourself well in German both written and spoken, have knowledge of a second language (English/French/Italian), and are proficient with the MS Office suite
- You find it easy to de-escalate and consistently resolve difficult situations
- You are mentally and physically resilient and can reconcile changing working hours with other commitments (shift work; Sundays and public holidays)
- You are at least 25 years old and have a clean record (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
