Forward Deployed Engineer (m/f/d)

About the job

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you work at the interface between our customers and our product. You understand our customers' processes in detail and develop, integrate, and implement our solution within the scope of specific projects directly at the customer's site. In close coordination with the project manager, you are responsible for the technical implementation and complement your developer role with an advisory perspective at the customer interface. After project completion, you ensure a smooth transition to operations with technical documentation and a structured handover. Because you are so close to the customer, you recognise where our product can be improved and provide valuable input to product managers and development.

Your Tasks

• Analyse the professional and technical challenges of our customers and translate them into concrete, actionable solutions. 
• Independently implement our products in the project: configuration, extension, and adaptation to the customer's data, systems, and processes. 
• Develop and implement integrations, data pipelines, and customised workflows, from conception to executable code. 
• Connect customer systems via APIs and interfaces as well as technically implement end-to-end integration into the existing system landscape. 
• Within the project context, quickly build functional prototypes and develop them into productive solutions based on real feedback. 
• Provide technical support for the introduction, train users, and ensure solution quality. 
• After project completion, document the technical details and ensure a smooth transition to operations with a structured handover. 
• Insights from customer contact are systematically fed back to product managers and development. 
• If necessary, actively support development in further enhancements. 
• In close coordination with the project manager, keep an eye on technical progress and communicate efforts and risks transparently.

Your Profile

• Completed studies in computer science, a comparable qualification, or several years of professional experience as a full stack developer with Node.js, comfortable in both frontend and backend. 
• Confident in JavaScript and Node.js, proficient in Python, with knowledge of C#. 
• Experience with data integration, data pipelines, and APIs such as REST, as well as with SQL and NoSQL databases. 
• Experienced in version control, CI/CD, and automated testing. 
• Quick to familiarise yourself with complex technical solutions and actively support development when needed. 
• Structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented working style, even under time pressure. 
• Confident communication with technical and non-technical contacts and the ability to explain complex matters clearly. 
• Adaptable, responsible, and enthusiastic about working directly with customers. 
• Very good German and English skills.
