About the job
The Migration Service of the City of Thun has the competencies of a first-instance migration authority. We regulate permit- and registration-required stays for employment, family reunification, education, visits, etc., as well as the various types of residence permits for third-country and EU/EFTA nationals.
From April 1, 2026, or by agreement, we are looking for a
Your tasks:
- Handling the diverse tasks of a first-instance migration authority
- Processing various applications and requests from foreigners residing in Thun (checking and deciding on family reunification requests, checking and extending foreign residence permits, etc.)
- Drafting orders and complaint responses
- Ordering coercive measures
- Providing expert advice and information at the counter and telephone service for Swiss and foreign nationals
You bring with you:
- Completed training in the commercial field or comparable qualification
- Professional experience in the migration field or a comparable area of responsibility
- Willingness to work outside regular working hours
- You have very good and confident written communication skills in German
- Sense of responsibility, quick comprehension, and assertiveness
- Enjoyment in communicating with various target groups, service and customer orientation
- Very good oral and written expression as well as foreign language skills
