The City Building Department is responsible for urban planning, building permit and building police procedures, civil and structural engineering, environmental protection, and municipal operations. The Department of Civil Engineering and Environment is responsible for the construction and maintenance of traffic facilities, water bodies and wastewater systems, waste management, and issues related to environment and energy.

Project Manager Civil Engineering (80%-90%)

This is your job
- Management and supervision of projects as well as representation of the client in traffic and civil engineering projects including projects on engineering structures and wastewater facility constructions
- Updating the cadastral register of wastewater disposal and infiltration register
- Providing information on current civil engineering projects
- Issuing excavation permits on public areas
- Participation in the preparation of budgets and investments as well as in the administrative report in the specialist area
- Execution coordination of construction projects of utility operators (gas, water, electricity, public lighting, communication, and sewerage)
- Supporting the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Environment in fulfilling the advisory mandate in the area of responsibility for the political authorities and the city administration offices
- Representing the City Building Department in commissions, working groups, and municipal associations
This is what you bring
- University of applied sciences degree, higher professional diploma or equivalent education, construction manager, civil engineering technician, degree in technical or natural sciences
- Ideally VSA certificate "Specialist in Property Drainage"
- Professional experience in civil engineering (road construction, sewer construction, project management/construction management, assessment of property drainage and infiltration systems, etc.)
- Experience as a project manager
- Ideally municipal and/or cantonal administrative experience with practical relevance to political decision-making processes
- High level of responsibility, self-organization and self-motivation, team orientation and loyalty
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Assertiveness, resilience, and needs-oriented demeanor
- IT user skills appropriate to the requirements
