Career Changer: Train Driver, 100%

Are you looking for a meaningful job in a modern railway company? Would you like to contribute your skills and experience to a well-functioning public transport system? Then after the 6-month training as a train driver, you will be in your element on our two S-Bahn lines. With over 14.8 million passengers per year and 300 trains per day, SZU is one of the most used private railways in Switzerland. Help us ensure that our passengers feel comfortable and arrive well – whether commuting to work daily, going on a nature trip, or heading to leisure activities in the city.

These are your tasks

• You operate S-Bahn trains safely and reliably on the Sihltal line S4 and the Uetliberg line S10.
• You take responsibility for the safety of our passengers.
• In addition to driving and shunting the trains, you are also responsible for checking the technical condition of the vehicle before and after taking over.
• You are committed to high service quality and ensure passenger information.

These are your key competencies

• You have completed at least a three-year vocational training or Matura and have several years of professional experience.
• You have a high sense of safety and responsibility and convince with your conscientiousness and reliability.
• You are customer- and team-oriented, helpful, and resilient.
• You cope well with irregular working hours in a 24-hour shift operation.
• You have good eyesight and a healthy constitution.

The training in detail

You complete the train driver training category B100 after six months with the theoretical and practical skills test. The costs of the training are covered by SZU and you will be paid. After successful completion of the training, a permanent position as a train driver in passenger transport at SZU awaits you.

Training start: October 1, 2026

After a successful interview, we offer you the opportunity to accompany one of our train drivers during a trip. This way, you get to know your future activity better and explore our S-Bahn lines from the perspective of the train drivers.
