Particularity
Founded in 2010, the Institute of the Ancient and Byzantine World (IAB), dynamic and bilingual, brings together all disciplines of the sciences of Antiquity of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Fribourg: Greek and Latin language and culture, history of Antiquity, classical archaeology, paleo-Christian and Byzantine archaeology, ancient philosophy. Added to this are two disciplines from other faculties: Roman law and patristics. The institute promotes cooperation and dialogue between the disciplines of the sciences of Antiquity in the field of research and could in the future supervise a new interdisciplinary master's program.
The Department of Classical Philology is an independent unit attached to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and a member of the IAB. It has two professors, a teaching and research assistant professor, two lecturers, and two qualified assistants. It welcomes about 60 students and offers Bachelor and Master courses in the field of Greek and Latin language and culture.
Field of activity
Management of the routine tasks of the IAB and the Department of Classical Philology, on the Rue Pierre-Aeby site (infrastructure, mailboxes, internal and external communication, etc.)
Collaboration in organizing the scientific and social activities of the IAB and the Department of Classical Philology
Management of Bachelor and Master program data in the GEFRI internet portal (modules, grades, validation procedures, course entry, room reservations, etc.)
Management of personnel files of the Department of Classical Philology
Communication and public relations (management and maintenance of the Institute and Department website, archiving, preparation and sending of the monthly newsletter, writing the annual report, etc.)
Support for the management of the IAB and the Department of Classical Philology (preparation and follow-up of the meetings of the Institute Council and the Department Council, including minute-taking)
Accounting for the Institute and the Department (transmission of invoices, funding requests, statements, etc.)
Requirements
Commercial training (CFC) with several years of professional experience in a similar role (a diploma recognized as equivalent may be accepted)
Flexible personality, with a keen sense of human relations and good communication skills in dealings with various interlocutors
Mastery of computer tools and interest in working with new applications; experience with intranet portals for administrative processes (especially myUnifr) is an asset
Mastery of French or German with good knowledge of the other language (oral and written); mastery of English is an asset
Language requirements
