The Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine (DMCPR) has the societal mission to provide access to quality care for all through proximity medicine, to ensure the management of minor medical and surgical emergencies, to promote prevention among citizens, to provide medical knowledge for judicial investigations, and to promote the health of travelers.
The Primary Care Medicine Service provides outpatient care for adult patients under primary care medicine. This service also offers outpatient emergency medical services to the population. As part of the HUG's general interest missions, it provides access to care for disadvantaged populations due to their age, social, economic, legal status (asylum seekers, those subject to non-entry, undocumented persons, prisoners), or lifestyle habits; if necessary, the primary care medicine service also ensures continuity of their care.
Job Description
The Geneva University Hospitals are recruiting their new deputy physician responsible for the Asylum and Refugee Health Unit (USAR). In this role, you assume clinical, academic, and administrative responsibility for the unit and ensure its smooth operation.
You coordinate and unite a multidisciplinary team composed of about forty medical, nursing, and administrative staff, ensuring quality care and supporting migrant patients facing highly vulnerable situations.
Your role is both operational and strategic. You conduct medical consultations and ensure the medical coordination of the Asylum Health Care Network (RSA) in collaboration with AMG and the General Hospice.
You develop daily leadership based on support, valuing skills, and creating a caring and dynamic work environment. You unite your team around common goals, inspire trust, and mobilize energies to achieve ambitious results.
You carry a strong ambition to academicize your position and actively contribute to scientific research in the field of migrant health. You lead study projects, publish, and develop the academic expertise of your unit. You participate in pre- and postgraduate teaching and work closely with management to design and deliver quality training.
In this role, you represent the unit, the service, and the department with internal and external stakeholders. You develop strong partnerships and exert a positive influence by promoting cooperation and cohesion.
You demonstrate empathy and humanity while maintaining perspective and appropriate emotional management, both for yourself and in supporting teams. Your leadership is characterized by a clear vision, the ability to lead change, and to establish a collaborative and innovative culture.
Qualifications
You hold a federal medical diploma or an equivalent recognized title, as well as training in public health and social medicine. You have the right to practice or are eligible for such a right in the canton of Geneva.
You have proven experience in community health, with supervision of scientific work and management of multidisciplinary teams. You have demonstrated your ability to lead research projects and publish in specialized journals.
You show a strong interest in an academic career and wish to obtain at least a title such as privat-docent or a teaching position.
Fluency in French is essential, and an excellent level of English is a major asset.
You are recognized for your sense of partnership, your ability to influence, your broad perspective, and your capacity to lead with integrity and responsibility.
