Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measures enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, as well as the detention and preparation for departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Main Department of Pre-Trial Detention Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for provisional detention, investigative and security custody.
For the Social Services division of the UGZ, we are looking for a committed, team-oriented, and responsible individual at Zurich West Prison starting February 1, 2026, or by arrangement, on a fixed-term basis for 6 months.
Your tasks
- Resource-oriented counseling and support of incarcerated persons in various areas of life such as housing situation, finances, and social insurance
- Planning and coordination of stay arrangements, reintegration, or transition management (e.g., organization or mediation of housing offers, work partners, and external agencies, transfer to penal and measures enforcement)
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with internal departments such as medical service, correctional officers/caretakers, psychiatric-psychological service, as well as with external agencies such as criminal investigation authorities, probation and enforcement services, social welfare offices, social insurance, KESB, etc.
Your profile
- Interest in criminal law topics and willingness to engage with people in difficult situations and with diverse social and cultural backgrounds
- Stable and communicative personality
- High mental and physical resilience
- Initial administrative experience and pronounced organizational skills
- You are studying Social Work at a University of Applied Sciences
