Are you looking for a meaningful task with responsibility in the areas of food safety, animal health, and animal welfare? We offer a versatile and flexible activity in a well-coordinated team – choose your workload freely between 60-100%.
Your tasks
- The combination of food safety, animal welfare, and animal health is at the center of your work in variously sized slaughterhouses (Sursee and others).
- For this, you independently and with a great deal of responsibility and decision-making scope conduct the ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection of pigs and cattle as well as other animal species.
- Monitoring and ensuring animal welfare during slaughter, on-farm killings, and slaughter and operational hygiene in slaughter and processing plants is as important to you as it is to our entire team. With your precise working method, you ensure clear documentation, meaningful reports, and legally secure objections in the area of meat inspection.
- In the event of highly contagious animal diseases, you support the entire Veterinary Service team. You acquire the necessary skills through our regular animal disease exercises.
- With a solution-oriented, forward-looking working style, you regularly contribute your ideas to effect change.
Your profile
- Completed studies in veterinary medicine, ideally further training as an official veterinarian (certificate of competence) or willingness to complete this training.
- High affinity for socially relevant topics such as animal welfare, animal health, and food safety.
- Enjoyment of teamwork with both young and very experienced colleagues.
- Forward-looking and networked thinking as well as an independent, efficient, service- and solution-oriented working style.
- Willingness to familiarize yourself with new IT tools, to work external and early shifts, and to be active throughout the Canton of Lucerne (you will receive a mileage allowance).
