Gospel Choir Leadership

The Reformed Church community of Kilchberg in the canton of Zurich is a lively and culturally interested community. We are looking for a committed and versatile personality for our gospel choir who shapes our rehearsals and performances with passion, musical know-how, and enthusiasm.
 

We are a dedicated amateur choir with about 30 singers who have devoted themselves to modern gospel – from traditional spirituals to contemporary worship. Our two-hour rehearsals take place weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm (except during school holidays), complemented by a rehearsal weekend, concerts, participation in church services, and other small performances.

Your tasks:

• Musical direction of the weekly rehearsals
• Selection and rehearsal of suitable gospel and worship pieces
• Preparation and direction of performances and concerts
• Further development of the choir sound and vocal training
• Communication with the board / organization team

Ideally, you bring:

• Passion for gospel music and joy in working with amateur choirs
• Experience in conducting and gospel choir leadership
• Musical ear, ability to develop arrangements
• Good piano skills for rehearsal accompaniment
• Membership in a band or good networking with the regional music scene that can support our choir's performances
• A positive, motivating manner with pedagogical sensitivity
• Openness to the Christian-influenced content of our music
