The Gastro area (Area G) is an initiative of the student body of HSG (SHSG) and is responsible for operating student bars and events around the campus of the University of St. Gallen. The G area includes the [ad]hoc, MeetingPoint, and the Square Bar. With these three diverse locations, Area G is an integral part of the university campus culture.
Your Tasks
Your Main Tasks
- Deputy management in the gastronomy sector
- Contact person for all employees in Area G
- Support for the location managers and their deputies in case of absence
- Independent assurance of operational daily business including short-term reservations
- Compliance with gastronomic due diligence
- Preparation and serving of drinks as well as qualified sales conversations
- Participation and minute-taking at "All-hands" meetings

- Independently leading a team and ensuring a smooth workflow
- Responsibility for personnel management, training, and education
- Co-responsibility for a motivating work environment and the joy of the profession
- Conducting inventories and stock controls
- Participation in management and job interviews
- Further development of the offerings
Additional Tasks
- Conducting spot checks in all outlets
- Co-organizing internal training and workshops
- Bringing in and implementing new ideas and gastronomic trends
- Contributing to the operational and financial management of Area G
Your Profile
- Gastronomic prior experience
- Organizational talent and hands-on mentality to independently ensure operational business
- Confident demeanor and communication skills to act as a contact person for the team and in sales conversations
- Experience in training and coaching to specifically promote employees and shape training sessions
- Knowledge in inventory management and stocktaking, including experience with stock controls and business processes
- Very good German and English skills to communicate professionally with guests and employees
- Joy in hospitality, openness to trends and ideas, as well as willingness to actively contribute to the further development of the offerings
