Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Psychiatric-Psychological Service (PPD) is a main department of Correctional Services and Reintegration. Psychological and psychotherapeutic care for offenders is provided by about 40 employees with basic training in psychology, psychiatry, social pedagogy, or milieu therapy. The broad therapeutic offering of the PPD includes treatments in dyadic, group, and milieu therapeutic settings within the framework of court-ordered inpatient or outpatient measures. A focus of treatment is relapse-preventive, offense-oriented psychotherapy of violent and sexual offenders in custody and in freedom.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialization of inmates and the protection of the public.
Due to a temporary vacancy, our dedicated treatment team of the Forensic Psychiatric Department (FPA) is looking for a motivated milieu therapist to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited to one year.
Your tasks
- Key worker role with treatment planning and support of a prosocial and treatment-promoting milieu
- Development and implementation of individual case-related milieu therapeutic treatment measures considering the psychological and physical resources of the clients under measures
- Participation in ensuring and further developing reliable correctional-organizational and security-relevant processes in the FPA (e.g., ensuring hygiene, catering, laundry changes, sick reports, and mail)
- Planning, conducting, and evaluating accompanied therapeutic outings and vacations with the clients under measures
Your profile
- Completed training as a nursing specialist, ideally in psychiatric nursing, and experience in clinical or forensic institutions
- Ideally, you have experience in the penal system, especially in the areas of care or work/employment
- You are characterized by a mature and conflict-capable personality with excellent interpersonal skills
- Your pronounced team and communication skills support successful collaboration
- You are open to interdisciplinary work and willing to continuously learn
