The EOC, the multisite hospital of Ticino, is present with its institutes throughout the entire cantonal territory for a total of 1,000 beds. The organization effectively combines a local approach with an overall vision, guaranteeing the population a comprehensive and local hospital offer, regardless of where the services are requested. Medical Fellow in Medical Oncology
Profile
IOSI employs doctors in training in the inpatient ward in Bellinzona and in the 4 outpatient clinics in Bellinzona, Locarno, Lugano, and Mendrisio. The Institute is recognized as a type A training center for obtaining a specialist title in medical oncology FMH and is affiliated with the Faculty of Biomedicine of the University of Italian Switzerland (USI). Furthermore, the Oncology Clinic maintains regular academic collaboration contacts with the Oncology Research Institute (IOR), the Institute of Biomedical Research (IRB), the Zurich Polytechnic (ETHZ), and the Swiss Cancer Research Group (SAKK). In addition to daily clinical activity, the training offer of our Institute includes, in close collaboration with the Hematology Clinic, a rich weekly continuing education program with Journal Club, training conferences, and oncolunch. The discussion of clinical cases is multidisciplinary and takes place within the numerous tumor boards held weekly, in which every assistant doctor is invited to actively participate.
The doctor we are looking for must possess motivation, initiative, and a spirit of collaboration. They believe, as we do, in the importance of putting the patient and their family at the center of all our attention.
Necessary requirements
- Degree/diploma in medicine and surgery; for doctors with foreign qualifications, recognition/registration by the Federal Commission for Medical Professions MEBEKO and related registration with MedReg before starting activity is mandatory.
- Proven knowledge of the Italian language (required level at least B2) with related registration with MedReg before starting activity. Good knowledge of another national language besides Italian (French, German) and possibly English is also desirable but not essential.
- At least one year of experience in oncology, hematology, or internal medicine is strongly preferred.
- Availability for possible transfers to Lugano and possibly other Institute locations, if logistical needs arise during outpatient training rotation.
- The training is expected to start in the hematology-oncology inpatient ward in Bellinzona, to offer a broad spectrum of general oncology under supervision.

We offer a modern and dynamic work environment and the possibility to work with highly motivated and prepared collaborators. Initial contract duration: 1 year with reassessment for extension for a total of three years of training in medical oncology.
