Operations Coordination - the heart of Zurich West Prison (GZW):
At GZW, we are on duty 24/7, 365 days a year. In operations coordination, you ensure that everyday life in the prison runs in a structured and safe manner.
- You organize and coordinate all processes related to the admission, stay, and release of inmates; from cell allocation to property management to deadline control. You electronically record up to 60 admissions and releases daily
- Your tasks also include processing detention-relevant documents, coordinating transports, and scheduling appointments
- You operate security-relevant systems, monitor holding cells, and handle emergency calls attentively and reliably
- In lively exchange with a diverse group of partners – by phone, at the counter, or upon arrivals – you communicate with important partners such as public prosecutors, probation and enforcement services, as well as the inmates themselves
- Occasionally, you also take shifts at the central office or lodge to ensure security throughout the building
What you bring
- You are at least 25 years old, have a vocational diploma (EFZ or journeyman's certificate), and have no entries in the criminal or debt register
- You have at least 3 years of professional experience; further training as a specialist in correctional services is an advantage
- Dealing with people in difficult personal situations is part of your daily routine. For this, besides a positive view of humanity, you need sensitivity, a strong character, and sometimes patience
- You enjoy working in a structured and administrative way, even in a complex environment
- High resilience and independent work are natural for you
- You have very good German skills in speaking and writing; oral foreign language skills are a plus
- Confident use of MS Office and a general IT affinity are among your strengths
- You are willing to work shifts, including early, late, night, and weekend shifts
What you gain
- Zurich West Prison is centrally located next to Hardbrücke, giving you excellent public transport connections
- You can expect a well-thought-out introduction and a large range of continuing education and training opportunities in theory and practice
- A lunch check card and an excellent staff restaurant
