Official Veterinarian (m/f/d) Dept. Meat, Milk and Veterinary Medicines
from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement- You will be jointly responsible for meat inspection in the large slaughterhouses in the canton of St. Gallen; specifically in the large cattle slaughterhouse in St. Gallen. Additionally, there will be assignments in the large pig slaughterhouse in Bazenheid and the large poultry slaughterhouse in Staad.
- Together with the on-site management and the team, you will ensure the inspection of slaughter animals and meat and supervise compliance with regulations in the areas of meat hygiene, animal welfare, animal diseases and disposal.
- You will order the necessary measures, ensure epidemic preparedness and work closely with the specialist departments of food safety, animal welfare and animal health in the veterinary service during enforcement. You will maintain close contact with the managers of the slaughterhouses.
- Work start outside of usual office hours
- Completed studies in veterinary medicine
- Certificate of competence as an Official Veterinarian or willingness to obtain this
- Experience in farm animal practice as well as in the field of meat inspection and food safety
- Several years of professional experience in the enforcement area of the veterinary service
- Solution-oriented working style
- Good communication skills
- Confident manner and good assertiveness
- Willingness to start work early outside of usual office hours
