We are looking for you as a Buyer (m/f/d) for our location in Zurich as soon as possible. This position can be filled full-time.
Your role at Alstom - What you will achieve with us
140 years of Swiss railway history meet modern solutions for green mobility in Zurich. With 300 colleagues, the site is a global competence center for high-performance traction technology and a development site for locomotives, bogies, mechanical and electrical systems, as well as services for the local and global market. The Corporate Functions significantly contribute to supporting and continuously expanding the performance of our sites. In this role, you report to Frederik Ostwald and work in a motivated and committed team.
Your tasks:
- Establish a complete supplier selection process
- Implement the raw material strategy
- Ensure project execution in line with quality, cost, delivery, and technical goals (QCDT)
- Support the supplier panel relationship (supplier workload, negotiation, specific agreement)
- Prepare and conduct requests for quotations with suppliers; lead project negotiations
- Monitor the development of the procurement project QCDT and the legal project (FAI, Business Award, product development)
- Ensure compliance with commitments from the work package; prepare Business Award
- Promote the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhere to the highest standards of ethical behavior
- Coordinate the project with all métiers
- Ensure timely delivery and quality, especially during the ramp-up phase of the project
- Support the relationship with global supplier panels
- Manage relationships with specific suppliers (negotiation, specific agreement, QCDT performance of the local supplier)
- Measure and develop supplier performance in coordination with the supplier quality team
- Properly assess all high-risk suppliers and manage the corresponding risk mitigation plan
- Handle initial issues before escalation to supervisors
- Monitor corporate engagement in social responsibility and deviations
- Respect the Alstom Code of Ethics and policies

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or business school
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in procurement/purchasing
- Technical understanding of relevant components
- Knowledge in purchasing production materials/project purchasing
- Negotiation skills (purchase contracts) and contract law knowledge
- Ability to work in a matrix environment
- Communication skills & team spirit
