Summary
Join our 2-year rotational program!
Gain hands-on experience with cutting edge digital tools and platforms (AI platform, simulation software) and broaden your expertise through three dynamic focus areas:
1. Data Modeling
2. Process Modeling & Simulation
3. Process Digitalization
You’ll rotate across key functions within Technical Research & Development (TRD), including New Chemical Entities (NCE), Biologics (Bx), and Global Device & Packaging Development (GDPD) and participate in strategic digitalization initiatives and innovation projects.
About the Role
Location: Basel, Switzerland OR Schaftenau, Austria; #LI-OnSite
This Postgraduate program is limited to 2 years, with the start date in March 2026.
Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Switzerland or have completed their studies at a Swiss University or applicants who are eligible to work in Austria or are citizens of the European Union.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and maintain data models for synthetic molecules, biologics, and packaging/medical devices.
- Integrate diverse data sources (experimental, operational, regulatory) to enable advanced analytics and reporting.
- Collaborate with data scientists and IT teams to ensure data integrity, traceability, and GxP compliance.
- Create and maintain data dictionaries, ontologies, and metadata standards for TRD projects.
- Map and analyze end-to-end business and technical processes across molecule, biologics, and device workflows.
- Build and apply process models using digital tools, including simulation software and workflow engines.
- Conduct scenario analyses to optimize efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance, and present results to cross-functional teams.
- Drive digital transformation by implementing solutions (e.g., workflow automation, digital twins), supporting pilots, and leading change management for global adoption.
Essential Requirements:
- Master’s in Data Science, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biologics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Programming skills in JavaScript, XML, HTML, Python or similar programming languages.
- Experience with machine learning and AI applications.
- Knowledge in data structures and databases (e.g. SQL) as well as process automations (like Power Apps or Power Automate).
- Strong analytical skills with excellent communication and collaboration in global teams.
- Fluent English
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience with data modeling and simulation tools.
- Familiarity with synthetic molecule/biologics development, packaging or device development processes is a plus.
- Fluent German and/or French is a plus.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 47,532.24 a year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
