You have been with NKB for over 20 years. What does the bank mean to you personally?
This is my 21st winter here, it actually already feels a bit like "my home" (laughs). From day 1, I associate NKB with this extraordinary, family-like atmosphere among the employees. You just like coming here every day, you feel appreciated and well taken care of, and the people are grateful for the work you do. Over the years, many friendships have naturally developed, for which I am very grateful.
What has changed in these 20 years?
On the one hand, of course, many people have joined and people have also left NKB. On the other hand, there has been a huge technological development towards digitalization – both internally in the bank with all the systems and devices but of course also in the building itself. This is also noticeable in the building technology. The systems and machines have all become more modern, faster, more efficient, and more sustainable. You have to keep up with the times.
Speaking of modernization: Since early summer, the renovation work on the office spaces at the headquarters has been underway. A topic that has certainly kept you busy this year?
Yes, certainly, the renovation work here at the headquarters in Stans was and still is the biggest topic on my agenda this year. Anyone who has stopped by in the last days and weeks may have noticed that on the ground floor, as part of the office renovation, the new "Café 54" is also being created. I am involved there as well, coordinating and communicating with the craftsmen. Besides that, the usual topics have kept me busy, a typical example being the annual installation of the Christmas lights towards the end of November.
You mentioned it: installing Christmas lights, clearing snow, or organizing Christmas events – the winter months surely keep you quite busy. Is this the busiest season for you?
Not necessarily. Much depends on how much snow there is. The short winter outbreak with about 40 centimeters of snow at the end of November was extreme; I have never experienced anything like that in the 20 years here. Sure, installing the Christmas lights or setting up for the Christmas event always keeps you busy. But I have these dates fixed in the agenda and can plan accordingly. But I wouldn't say that more happens in winter than usual. I certainly never get bored, but that's a good thing.
Now a few days off over Christmas and New Year are coming up soon. What do you personally wish for the holidays?
I have no big wishes. I am very much looking forward to spending the holidays with my family, friends, and acquaintances, eating well, and relaxing a bit.
