Head of Department / Head of Operating Room

The Merian Iselin Clinic is a state-of-the-art private clinic with a public service mandate in Basel. Our focus areas are orthopedics, surgery, and urology. With us, you will find meaningful work in a family environment where people are at the center.

Your main tasks

• Overall responsibility for the OR team with about 45 employees
• Organization and coordination of an optimal OR program for the 9 operating rooms in close cooperation with OR resource management and the IKM
• Leadership, support, and promotion of employees
• Leading the 3 team leaders
• Accompanying and initiating change processes in the OR
• Responsibility for professional quality to continuously improve the quality of care in the department
• Monitoring and ensuring instruction for the application of newly introduced work techniques
• Determining, regarding quality assurance, which topics are worked on in the own area
• Working according to the quality assurance cycle (PDCA cycle)
• Taking over daily responsibility
• Supporting the team in daily operations, with at least 20% participation as OR technician, in the sense of independent, functional, and professional instrument handling and assisting in surgeries of attending physicians
• Participation in interdisciplinary projects
• Monitoring, controlling, and responsibility for the ordering process of implants/sterile goods and instruments and loan instruments

Your profile

• Training as a certified nurse in the operating room area or as a certified specialist in operating room technology HF with several years of professional and leadership experience.
• Proof of leadership/management training is an advantage
• High quality and sense of responsibility
• Good organizational skills, flexibility, and resilience
• Strong social competence and the ability to think and act in a networked way facilitate your organizational and coordination tasks
