ADD-ON LENSES AFTER CATARACT SURGERY
[1/2]
Add-on Lens -
after successful cataract surgery
For patients who still need distance glasses after the implantation of an artificial lens, for example after cataract surgery, the remaining refractive error can be corrected by inserting a second lens ("add-on" lens).
This can be achieved with a multifocal add-on lens.
The procedure can be performed at any time and even years after cataract surgery offers the possibility of a life without glasses. The procedure, performed under local anesthetic eye drops, is very gentle and short for the patient (operation duration 5 - 10’). The add-on lens is inserted in addition to the already implanted artificial lens - in the so-called sulcus (= behind the iris and in front of the capsular bag). After the procedure, you can usually leave the Vista Alpina Eye Clinic without an eye patch after half an hour. Normally, you can resume your usual work after one to three days. You are often allowed to drive a car already the day after the check-up with your ophthalmologist.
Cost of the operation
From CHF 3,450.- (depending on the lens power) per eye (including operation and lens) you can usually live without glasses!
