The gemini NGM tool grinder from J. Schneeberger Maschinen AG Grinding and sharpening with one button Swiss company J. Schneeberger Maschinen AG has divided its machine tools into five series. The Gemini represents the one for the most complex grinding tasks. The strengths of the gemini NGM lie in the ratio and the machine components, being able to choose optimally between workspace and footprint, the wide variety of transmission options, axis stroke lengths, configuration options, the intuitive and practical software for generating new grinding and sharpening processes, the power and sizes of grinding spindles, and automatic loading and unloading systems. For special grinding operations, Schneeberger develops ad hoc solutions that can be implemented in the process, for example, for profiling tools used in gear manufacturing. The cross table positioned on the machine base contains the X and Y axes that run on ball screw guides. On the Y axis is the divider (A axis) equipped with direct drive and internal cooling system. On the Z axis, designed in terms of rigidity by FEM analysis, is the grinding spindle (B or C axis). Optionally, the machine can be equipped with a double grinding spindle and X, Y, and Z axes with linear motors. www.fertigung.de

AUF HERZ + NIEREN Machine Check The presence of adaptable gripping collets for every need. They enable the creation of machining paths. Raw and machined tools are stored in pallets. The CAD model of the tool can be easily imported into the software and the grinding wheel path is generated in a few steps. Qg1 offers the possibility to directly generate the 3D model, defining the main parameters of the tool to be processed. The software interface display is divided into two main screens, the upper one shows the tool being machined and the lower one allows the creation and modification of other processes to reduce design and machining times. Another fundamental aspect of Qg1 is the simulation of generated paths allowing the operator to have maximum control during design and facilitating the search for immediate solutions. Qg1 is the grinding and sharpening software developed by Schneeberger. It offers a comfortable and tailored platform for process design. The functions are clearly presented, can be quickly activated, and the default settings in the program quickly lead to the completion of the desired grinding or sharpening process. During the machine test, a carbide milling cutter was simulated with the Qg1 software, then built and sharpened with the gemini. The results are remarkable: harmonious cutting and surprisingly finished surface. The machine adjacent to the tested one was engaged in profiling a tool for gear tooth cutting, a machining process in which Schneeberger has solid experience. The wheel loader has up to 14 positions for HSK-50 wheels, on which 3 wheels each can be loaded. The special spindles can be replaced by the robot (capacity 6 kg) during tool change. The Fanuc robot, with a load capacity of 20 kg, manages from two to four pallets. The ERP system potential is not yet fully exploited and could be improved. The machine is equipped with Fanuc 31i control. Fanuc modules are also used for transmission. An automatic ticket system is planned that will be generated when the customer receives an error message. If defects are detected, their resolution is planned as soon as possible. Technical support is provided by branches in various countries. The hotline service operates during office hours. After each intervention, a report is created and then recorded and archived in an ERP system. J.
