To complete its team, the Institute of History and Anthropology of Religions (IHAR) of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies (FTSR) is looking for a graduated Assistant in the History of Islam and Muslim Worlds.

Contract duration: 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

Your activities
Research activity :
At least 50% of the activity rate will be dedicated to carrying out a thesis under the supervision of Prof. Wissam Halawi.
The recruited person will work on the development and writing of a doctoral thesis in the social history of the medieval Muslim world and will participate in the research activities of the professor and the Institute of History and Anthropology of Religions (IHAR). They will have the opportunity to develop and/or participate in research colloquia/seminars.
Teaching activity:
Up to 50% of the activity rate will be devoted to supporting the professor's teaching and research.
The recruited person must be able to teach introductory courses in Arabic language and the history of the Muslim world, as well as seminars on translation and analysis of medieval Arabic sources, aimed at familiarizing students with critical reading methods and contextualization of texts.
Your profile
- Master's degree in history and Islamic studies
 - Excellent level of Arabic
 - Research project on the history of the medieval Muslim world, which can fit both within the field of Shiite studies and research on legal and documentary texts. The approach combines historical and philological analysis of sources, with particular attention to social and religious dynamics revealed by normative corpora
 - Teaching experience is a plus
