HEAD OF TRANSPORT & SHIPPING (m/f/d)

Stahl Gerlafingen AG is a significant company within the AFV BELTRAME GROUP, which is a European market leader in the production of rebar.

About 500 employees produce rebar from scrap steel in Gerlafingen. Stahl Gerlafingen AG is the largest recycling company in Switzerland. The sales markets for the products are in Switzerland and the European Union.

Permanent position in day operations

Tasks/Responsibilities

• Handling of transports for rebar 
• Preparation of necessary customs documents 
• Contact person for customs and customs agencies and involved authorities
• Creation of transport credits
• Preparation of statistics for M&V, specific statistics for BO and transport disposition
• Responsible for all transports (truck/rail and ship) that are under the responsibility of Stahl Gerlafingen (including scrap intake by rail)
• Coordination with the freight forwarder and the railway
• Contract negotiations with the carriers
• Coordination of transfers within the group
• Collaboration with the logistics managers within the Beltrame Group
• Contact person for our railway partners (ensuring wagon availability, various tariff negotiations, participation in projects)
• Conclusion of transport contracts
• Development and implementation of the logistics strategy

Competencies

• At least 10 years of practical experience in transport disposition (truck/rail and customs) 
• Completed studies in logistics or further training as a freight forwarding/logistics manager
• Knowledge of German and English, Italian is an advantage
• Good IT user skills (Office, SAP)
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Professional experience in the industrial sector
