Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialization of inmates and the protection of the public.
From April 2026 or by agreement, we are looking for committed individuals as supervisors / caregivers in normal custody.
This is your field of activity
- You accompany and care for inmates in the structured daily routine and are a reliable contact person for questions and concerns
- You ensure an orderly daily routine, consistently implement safety and service regulations, and recognize and manage critical situations confidently
- You actively participate in leisure and group activities of the prisoners
- You take on administrative tasks such as writing reports and documenting relevant events
- You engage as an active member of the company fire brigade
What you bring
- You have completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence, a (specialized) high school diploma, a technical college certificate, or an equivalent qualification and ideally have experience in a comparable care function
- You communicate confidently in spoken and written German; additional language skills are an advantage
- You have good IT user skills, especially in MS Office
- You are a stable personality with high physical and mental resilience, flexibility, and pronounced social competence
- You treat other people with respect and appreciation
- You are willing to work in shifts as well as on-call and weekend duties
- You have a clean record (no entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers) and are at least 25 years old
