With nearly 1,000 employees, the Department of Psychiatry fulfills a triple mission concerning the treatment of mental disorders, training, and research. Thus, the department's mission is to detect and effectively treat increasingly frequent and diverse pathologies while respecting patients and their relatives.
Quality teaching is also provided by the department to students as well as to doctors in training for the specialist title by raising awareness of psychological, biological, and social dimensions. The department also supports quality training in psychotherapy.
Organized into 6 services, the department offers a very broad and diversified range of care including hospital care, multidisciplinary outpatient care according to different modalities and intensities, organized according to the principles of community psychiatry, as well as specialized programs and units. An integrated, clinical, and structured quality teaching is provided by the department for doctors in training by raising awareness of psychological, biological, and social dimensions. The department also provides structured theoretical training in the 3 main psychotherapy models as well as individual and group supervisions included in the training curriculum.
The geriatric psychiatry service offers psychiatric, psychosocial, and psychotherapeutic treatments to the elderly population of the canton of Geneva as part of a public service mission. The service contributes to the prevention of mental illnesses and the psychosocial consequences of psychiatric disorders in collaboration with various partners.
Job Description
You are currently undergoing postgraduate training in psychotherapy according to the analytic model and wish to gain clinical experience in a specialized service for the care of elderly adults presenting mental disorders.
You are responsible for outpatient follow-up (through group therapies and individual therapies) of elderly adults presenting a psychiatric pathology associated or not with neurocognitive disorders. These follow-ups are carried out under the supervision of experienced professionals and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
You must comply with institutional guidelines for all matters related to the cases followed and the recording of your services.
Qualifications
You hold a Master’s degree in psychology. You are in the first or second year of postgraduate training in analytic psychotherapy or will start this training and be accepted in September 2026.
Previous experience with an adult population suffering from mental disorders would be an asset.
You know how to handle stress with good teamwork skills.
You are a motivated and committed person in your professional activities and will easily adapt to different types of follow-ups. You interact comfortably within interdisciplinary care teams.
