ROLE DESCRIPTION

• We are currently recruiting for a new addition to the Port Operations team and are seeking a Senior Manager - Port Operation to join our team at our headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. In this role, you will report to a Director - Port Operations and be supervising the port operations and cost management for a given geographical region. You will work closely with the members of the port operations team to ensure that Viking’s Ocean and Expedition ships and our guests and crew have the best conditions in ports in the region managed.
• The ideal candidate has some work experience from cruise operations or related fields and is looking for the next step in their career.
• Whilst inherently not a role with leadership responsibility the organization is set for rapid growth in the coming years so a desire to grow professionally and take on more responsibility over time will be important in this role.
• This role is located in Basel, Switzerland.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage day-to-day activities in the port operations team, including berth and itinerary scheduling, guest turn-around logistics, port cost management, port & destination permitting and more.
• Manage seasonal preparations, including permitting, for ships’ activities in allocated region.
• Ensure port cost management is in line with budget and management expectations for ports in allocated region.
• Ensure port information is up to date, accessible and available for onboard teams and the wider organization for ports in the region managed.
• Support in itinerary research for new ports and destinations in region managed.
• Collaborate with Directors and Leadership across the department in building improvement solutions and implementation plans.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• 1- 5 year experience from relevant industry / organization.
• Strong command of Microsoft’s software suite for production and communication, including Teams, Copilot, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills with a proactive approach and exhibits a tactful and diplomatic demeanor.
• Well rounded communication skills suited to communicate clearly in a multi-cultural team and with service providers in ports worldwide.
• Excellent command of English language – both spoken and written.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Deadline-driven, organized and able to multitask and work independently in a high paced
• You are comfortable dealing with deadlines, setting personal targets and schedule your work activities independently.
