Social Worker Prison Pfäffikon 60 - 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Main Department of Remand Prisons Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for provisional detention, investigative and security custody. One of these prisons is the Pfäffikon Prison. It houses detainees in investigative and security custody as well as in the security section. The Pfäffikon Prison has been renovated and will resume operations in summer 2026.
The UGZ Social Service is attached to the Directorate and supports all remand prisons in the Canton of Zurich as one of three specialist departments. For the social service at Pfäffikon Prison, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a responsible, dynamic, and team-oriented personality to complement and strengthen the social service.
Your tasks
- Resource-oriented counseling and support of incarcerated persons in various areas of life such as housing situation, finances, and social insurance
- Planning and coordination of stay arrangements, reintegration, and transition management
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with internal departments (e.g., medical service, guards/caretakers) as well as with external agencies (e.g., criminal investigation authorities, probation and enforcement services, social offices, etc.)
- Participation in the further development of the social service and the transfer of the pilot project into regular operation
- Collaboration in working groups and projects
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a comparable degree
- Ideally professional experience in correctional services, working with mandated clients, or in similar fields
- Independent, reliable, responsible, and careful working style
- High social competence and psychological resilience as well as empathy and assertiveness
- Flexibility and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Confident German language skills in spoken and written form, knowledge of additional languages is an advantage, as well as good IT user skills
