About the job
In the canton of Thurgau, all residents should feel safe. This is ensured by around 500 employees of the Thurgau Cantonal Police around the clock with a modern organization and in close contact with the population.
The employees of Operational Analysis find patterns and traces in large data sets. They support police investigators by visualizing data and creating court-admissible reports. With your expertise, you assist investigators in technical questions of data analysis.

Your main tasks
- Analysis of large structured and unstructured data sets, especially complex mobile phone data and digital traces
- Development of innovative and scalable applications for efficient solutions to data-driven questions
- Design, implementation, and further development of business intelligence solutions to support operational questions
- Creation of meaningful reports and visualizations that clearly and appropriately present the obtained results
- Technical support of criminal police investigations in the field of data analysis
- Collaboration in interdisciplinary project and specialist groups
- Co-responsibility for the smooth operation of federal applications in the area of postal and telecommunications traffic
- Taking over weekend and on-call duties to ensure readiness around the clock
Your profile
- Completed studies in a STEM subject such as Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering (HF, FH, University, ETH)
- Solid knowledge in handling large amounts of data as well as business intelligence applications
- Initial professional experience in a data- or development-related environment
- Very good programming skills, ideally in R
- Experience in developing R packages and R Shiny apps
- Practical experience with Git, knowledge of CI/CD pipelines is desirable
- Experience in criminal police or security-relevant environments is an advantage
- Confident German language skills in speaking and writing as well as good English skills
- High willingness for continuous further education and openness to new technologies
