Direct Current and Low Frequency Laboratory | immediately or by arrangement
The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a liter is always a liter (e.g., when refueling), METAS performs calibrations, conformity assessments, and consulting for business, research, and administration. Measurement accuracy builds trust, especially at the societal and political level, and is indispensable in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transmission, environmental and health measurements, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.
Your new challenge
- Responsibility for the technical, strategic, operational, and personnel management of the laboratory as well as close collaboration and networking with internal organizational units.
- Development and assurance of the high-quality technical infrastructure for calibrations and tests in electricity, thermometry, and humidity, proactive identification of R&D potentials, and promotion of innovative solutions.
- Central contact person for customer concerns, especially for the introduction of new services for industry.
- Professional representation of the laboratory externally as well as maintenance and expansion of relationships with federal offices, partner institutes domestically and abroad, and industry stakeholders.
- Active participation in national and international committees in the relevant metrological fields of the laboratory.
Your profile
- Completed university degree in natural or engineering sciences, or equivalent practical experience in an industrial environment with several years of professional and leadership experience.
- Good knowledge in the field of metrology and measurement technology.
- Passion for creating tangible added value through measurement technology and scientific projects.
- Strong ability to analytically grasp complex problems and translate them into actionable, practical solutions.
- Solution-oriented, flexible, and team-oriented personality who approaches new challenges straightforwardly.
- Very good knowledge of one official language, good knowledge of a second official language, and English spoken and written.
