About the job
The St.Gallen municipal utilities are a reliable partner for the population and economy of the city of St.Gallen as well as partly for the region in the supply of energy, water, and fiber optics. Currently, exciting projects are in the pipeline, such as the construction of our three data centers. To strengthen our OT and security team, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a committed personality as
Network Engineer (m/f/d) 80 - 100%
This varied activity includes the secure operation, construction, expansion, and conversion of networks and infrastructures for the entire OT (electricity, gas, water, district heating, and fiber optic network). In close cooperation with the specialist departments, you are responsible for the lifecycle of the GPON and OT networks. You also support IT/OT projects through the conception, construction, and configuration of network solutions.
This is what you will do:
- You design highly available and high-performance infrastructures and set standards for scalability and operational reliability.
- In the further development of our system landscape, you specifically contribute your know-how and independently lead technical migration and integration projects.
- You analyze complex faults, find causes, and develop viable, long-term solutions.
- You work closely with specialist departments as well as cross-departmental project teams and actively contribute to the further development of our OT infrastructure.
This is what you bring:
- Higher vocational education (e.g., HF/FH) in computer science or relevant professional experience in the above-mentioned area. Basic training in the electrical engineering field or as an IT specialist is a plus.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience in the design, construction, and operation of networks.
- Very good knowledge in routing, switching, firewalls, security, and network management.
- Initial experience in automation and SDN is an advantage, ideally complemented by a CCNA or CCNP certification.
- Great interest in the further development of network architecture in an increasingly decentralized supply system.
- You appreciate a varied role where you not only work at the PC but also occasionally work on-site in our facilities in the greater St.Gallen area.
- Very independent, communicative, and empathetic personality with a high sense of responsibility, pronounced teamwork skills, and great enthusiasm for your own topics as well as inspiring others.
This is what we offer you:
- In our modern, theme-oriented organizational form, you receive a lot of personal responsibility and great scope for design.
- An exciting and diverse range of tasks in a dynamic energy supply environment – hands-on for the energy transition in the city of St.Gallen.
- Benefit from the opportunity for professional development to continuously expand your skills.
- At least five weeks of vacation as well as the possibility of home office, discounts on public transport, and an attractive pension solution.
- An attractive workplace in the heart of the city of St. Gallen.
