The Thun City Archive preserves the historical memory of the city – from administrative records to photos and estates. It secures and conveys the written cultural heritage of Thun and actively shapes the further development of records management. As a city archivist, you ensure modern, legally compliant information management and make history and knowledge accessible to administration, research, and the public.
We are looking for a candidate starting May 1, 2026, or by agreement
Your tasks:
- Advising the directorates and departments on all matters of record keeping and records management
- Evaluating, taking over, and indexing documents (analog and digital) from the city administration as well as from private estates
- Ensuring legally compliant, efficient, and long-term information management in cooperation with the specialist departments and IT
- Building and further developing the analog and digital records management and long-term archiving system
- Maintaining and conveying the historical heritage of the city of Thun through public relations, tours, lectures, and media contributions
- Supporting researchers as well as citizens in using the archive holdings
- Ensuring the accessibility of the city archive
You bring with you:
- University of applied sciences degree in Information Sciences, MAS in Information Science, university degree or equivalent qualification/comparable training
- Professional experience in the archival field and knowledge in records management as well as digital information management
- Familiarity with legal and organizational requirements for record keeping (GEVER, eCH standards, data protection) Good IT skills (ideally you know the CMI applications) and interest in digital work processes
- Extremely independent, precise, structured, and responsible working style
- High communication and advisory competence as well as discretion
